Axxela Reaffirms Commitment to Energy Security and Sustainability During Visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu
Axxela Limited, a leading provider of gas and power solutions in sub-Saharan Africa, has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing energy security, supporting industrial growth, and fostering environmental sustainability in Lagos State.
The commitment was made during a meeting with Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House in Marina, Lagos.
Through its subsidiary, Gaslink Nigeria Limited, Axxela has played a pioneering role in the private-sector distribution of natural gas, expanding Lagos’ gas infrastructure by over 170 km. The network spans key industrial areas such as Ikeja, Ilupeju, Isolo, Ijora, Apapa, Tin Can, Victoria Island, and Eko Atlantic.
With further expansion underway along the Victoria Island-Lekki corridor, Axxela continues to improve energy access, support industrial development, and drive decarbonisation by offering a cleaner and more affordable energy alternative. The company’s growing natural gas infrastructure has attracted new industries while enabling existing businesses to thrive, contributing to economic growth and generating increased tax revenues that support public infrastructure projects.
In addition to gas distribution, Axxela has made significant strides in power development by building Independent Power Projects (IPPs) for the Lagos State Government in Akute and Alausa, as well as more recently providing a 5.8 MW power supply to Cadbury Nigeria.
Governor Sanwo-Olu warmly welcomed the Axxela Management team, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment for investors. He also reiterated Lagos State’s dedication to supporting companies like Axxela in their efforts to improve energy infrastructure and promote sustainability.
Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, expressed pride in the company’s contributions to Lagos’ energy landscape. He said, “We are proud to play a key role in driving energy security and contributing to Lagos State’s emergence as a regional energy hub. Lagos is critical to our business, and our initiatives are fostering industrialisation while advancing environmental sustainability. We remain committed to working alongside the state government to bridge the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and ongoing expansion along the Victoria Island-Lekki corridor are testaments to our dedication to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries and reduce carbon emissions.”
Beyond its core energy projects, Axxela is also deeply involved in social impact initiatives, partnering with LASPARK for its annual tree planting programs and supporting education through its Back-to-School Scholarship Initiative, which has benefitted hundreds of students in host communities.
