Nasarawa 2027: I’ve No Anointed Candidate – Gov Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has dismissed claims by some politicians in the state that he is backing a particular individual to replace him in the 2027 general election.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, during an interactive session with journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Lafia on Wednesday, the governor categorically denied these rumors. He described the speculations as false and unfounded, asserting that he has no anointed candidate for the 2027 election.

“The choice of who becomes the next governor of the state lies with the people, and I urge the general public to disregard any contrary claims,” said the governor. “Governor Abdullahi Sule has no anointed candidate to succeed him in 2027. Any appointee supporting such a claim is a sign of insubordination. Governor Sule will not condone such an act henceforth.”

He further urged the public to ignore politicians who claim to be the government’s preferred candidate for the governorship in 2027, adding that at the appropriate time, the people of Nasarawa will decide who will lead them.

The governor also addressed his appointees who have political ambitions, advising them to refrain from creating unnecessary tension within the polity. He emphasized that they should wait for the right time to present their aspirations to the electorate, warning that any actions that distract from governance would no longer be tolerated.

Governor Sule reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Nasarawa in the remaining two years of his tenure. He highlighted the ongoing infrastructural development across the state, including landmark projects like the Lafia Flyover and Underpass, the Akwanga project, and the proposed Keffi Flyover, as tangible achievements of his administration.

He concluded by calling on the public to continue supporting his administration to enhance the living standards of the people before the end of his term.
