Kaduna To Recruit 1,800 Health Workers
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the recruitment of 1,800 health workers to address staffing shortages at Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities across the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, announced this development on Thursday, explaining that the recruitment will strengthen Kaduna’s leadership in Primary Health Care services. She emphasized that the new hires will help to fill critical gaps in human resources, ultimately reducing maternal and child mortality rates while improving the overall well-being of residents.
The statement highlighted the ongoing revitalization efforts of 255 PHC facilities across the state, including the provision of state-of-the-art equipment and the distribution of essential medicines. Additionally, all 255 PHCs will be remodeled and upgraded to Level 2 status under the current administration’s health sector overhaul.
As part of the upgrade, these facilities will be equipped to manage conditions like uncomplicated diabetes, hypertension, severe asthma, assisted deliveries, and other essential services.
“Under the present administration, quality healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental human right,” Hajiya Umma stated, adding that Kaduna State’s recent recognition for its success in Primary Health Care puts it in a leading position in the North West Zone.
