NAF Destroys 4 Terrorists’ Gun Trucks, Kills Scores in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its recent airstrikes on terrorists’ strongholds in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State resulted in the destruction of four gun trucks, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and the elimination of scores of fighters.
In a statement issued by the Deputy Spokesman for NAF, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the airstrikes took place on March 26, 2025, as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East.
Group Captain Ali explained that the airstrikes were based on detailed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which pinpointed terrorists’ movements and their efforts to stockpile logistics and plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) around Wajiroko. Surveillance later tracked the terrorists to a concealed location housing a gun truck, ammunition, and fuel reserves.
In response, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) launched multiple waves of air interdiction missions. The first wave targeted the terrorists’ logistics hub, destroying gun trucks and critical supplies. Subsequent attacks followed, using rockets and cannon fire to completely destroy the terrorists’ assets.
Later the same day, NAF aircraft targeted another terrorist enclave at Chinene in the Mandara Mountains, where insurgents had relocated after a previous airstrike on Degbewa on March 16, 2025. Overhead reconnaissance confirmed the presence of active structures, prompting further airstrikes that set terrorist hideouts ablaze. Fleeing insurgents were engaged and neutralized.
The battle damage assessment and corroboratory intelligence confirmed the neutralization of numerous terrorists. The airstrikes also destroyed 4 gun trucks, 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles, and several makeshift shelters, forcing the insurgents to abandon their positions and significantly degrading their operational capabilities.
Group Captain Ali reiterated that the successful airstrikes were a testament to NAF’s continued commitment to neutralizing insurgents, disrupting their logistics, and denying them safe havens. He emphasized that sustained pressure on terrorist elements remains a key strategy in restoring peace and security in Nigeria.
