The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,160 personnel across the state to ensure peace, security, and the protection of critical infrastructure during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

This deployment was announced by the State Commandant, Aminu Ahmad, during an operational briefing at the NSCDC Headquarters in Katsina on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Ahmad reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC’s Commandant General, Abubakar Audi, to reinforcing security measures and safeguarding essential assets throughout the country.

He outlined various enhanced security strategies, including increased surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and coordination with other security agencies to guarantee a smooth and safe celebration.

Security personnel have been stationed at key locations, such as the Emir’s Palace Kofar Soro in Katsina, Kangiwa in Daura Emirate, central mosques in Katsina and Daura, as well as numerous Eid prayer grounds across the state. Officers have also been assigned to monitor the Hawan Bariki processions in both Katsina and Daura Emirates.

In addition to urban areas, covert and overt security personnel have been deployed across all 34 local government areas to ensure the safety of government facilities and public spaces.

The Commandant has instructed all Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Unit Commanders, OC Outposts, and Special Forces to conduct thorough patrols and maintain high levels of coordination throughout the period.

He urged all deployed personnel to maintain professionalism and collaborate effectively with other security agencies.

“All officers must remain professional and committed to their duties to ensure a peaceful and secure Sallah celebration,” Ahmad emphasized.

He also called on residents of Katsina to be law-abiding, stay alert, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security office.
