Speaker Abbas and Deputy Kalu Celebrate Tinubu’s Resilience on His 73rd Birthday

As President Bola Tinubu celebrates his 73rd birthday on Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Nigerian leader, praising his remarkable resilience and leadership.

Abbas emphasized that President Tinubu, a true democrat and patriot, deserves to be celebrated on this special occasion, especially given the critical role he plays in Nigeria’s democratic progress.

The Speaker expressed that Nigeria is fortunate to have a seasoned politician like Tinubu at the helm during such a pivotal time in the nation’s history. Having held leadership roles at both the state and federal levels across various branches of government, Tinubu brings unparalleled experience to the presidency.

Abbas also lauded the President for his bold actions shortly after taking office, particularly the historic removal of the long-standing fuel subsidy, which had previously put immense strain on the nation’s economy. The Speaker noted that this and other reforms, such as the floating of the Naira, are already producing positive outcomes, reflecting the administration’s determination to put the country on a better economic path.

The Speaker further commended the President for introducing several people-centric initiatives, including the Student Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit Scheme, a new national minimum wage, local government autonomy, the crude-for-naira deal, and the ongoing refurbishment of the Port Harcourt Refinery, among others.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu also sent his congratulations to President Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, praising the President’s courageous decisions, which he believes have steered Nigeria away from economic collapse.

Kalu highlighted Tinubu’s removal of the fuel subsidy, which he described as a deceptive financial burden that had only appeared beneficial, while in reality, it was draining the nation’s resources. The Deputy Speaker emphasized that the President’s brave move has been a crucial turning point, sparking the rejuvenation of Nigeria’s economy.

In addition, Kalu applauded the President’s commitment to regional development, noting his efforts to create regional development commissions that address the infrastructure needs of Nigeria’s diverse geopolitical zones. Kalu believes this initiative will foster economic growth and social cohesion across the nation.

While acknowledging the current challenges faced by Nigerians, Kalu urged patience, reassuring citizens that brighter days are ahead as the impact of Tinubu’s economic policies begin to materialize. He reiterated that the President’s leadership is precisely what the nation needed at this critical juncture and is confident that his reforms will bear fruit in due time.

“President Tinubu’s leadership has transformed Nigeria,” Kalu stated. “His dedication to economic progress is unwavering, and we are optimistic that his policies will bring lasting positive change.”

In closing, Kalu offered his well wishes for the President’s continued health and success, saying, “We celebrate not only your birthday today, Mr. President, but also your tireless dedication to building a prosperous Nigeria for all.”
