Tinubu Orders Swift Action Over Uromi Killings, Condemns Jungle Justice

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the Friday murder of travelling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in Uromi, Esan North Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a statement released on Thursday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed shock at the brutal act and ordered a swift and thorough investigation by the police and other security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the killings.

Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the victims and assured them that the government would not tolerate any unjust acts of violence. He emphasized that criminals would not be allowed to shed the blood of innocent Nigerians without facing the full force of the law.

The President reiterated that jungle justice has no place in Nigeria, stressing that every Nigerian has the right to move freely and safely across the country.

He also commended Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo and community leaders in Uromi for their prompt actions, which helped prevent further escalation of the situation.

LEADERSHIP reports that at least 16 individuals suspected of being kidnappers were attacked by a mob in Uromi, Edo State, after weapons such as dane guns and cutlasses, typically used for hunting, were found in their truck.
