Ohanaeze Ndigbo Calls For Arrest, Prosecution Of Killers Of Travellers In Edo
Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute those behind the gruesome murder of the 16 Northern travellers in Uromi, Edo State.
The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Ezechukwu Ezechi, made the call in an exclusive telephone interview with LEADERSHIP in Enugu.
He said it was quite unfortunate and disheartening that some people carried out such callous act on their fellow human beings.
The Ohanaeze spokesman condemned the killing of the travellers and called on security operatives to embark on manhunt of the perpetrators of the evil act.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide condemns such dastardly and callous act and it our prayer that security agencies should embark on manhunt of the killers,” he stated.
Ezechi stressed that the perpetrators of the act should be brought to book irrespective of religious and political affiliations.
He, however, denounced what he described as the mischievous incitement from some people from the Northern part of the country linking the killing to Ndigbo.
The Ohanaeze spokesman advised Igbos to continue to o their legitimate businesses and be law-abiding at all times in ther places of residence.
He condoled with the families of the deceased persons and restated his call for the prosecution of the pepetrators for justice and equity.
