Gov Yusuf Launches LG Dev’t Competition In Kano
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has introduced a local government development competition targeted at accelerating grassroots projects and fostering efficient service delivery across the state.
Spokesperson to the governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa disclosed in a statement where he said that the initiative was announced by the governor during the Hawan Nasarawa celebrations at the Government House.
Tofa stressed that the initiative was conceived to motivate local government chairmen to execute projects promptly and effectively.
According to Governor Yusuf, the competition requires each local government chairman to propose and implement development projects within a stipulated timeframe.
“We have introduced a competition where every local government chairman must present and execute development projects within a stipulated timeframe.
“Once a chairman submits a viable project, funds will be released immediately. Those who deliver on time will be allowed to take on multiple projects,” Governor Yusuf stated.
The governor sternly warning underperforming chairmen, emphasising that his administration will not tolerate delays in project execution.
During the occasion, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II urged the state government to enhance financial support for local governments to ensure smoother project implementation.
Responding to the Emir’s call, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment in prioritising rural development, saying it remains ready to back well-planned initiatives.
