Uromi 16: Victim’s Widow Gives Birth After Husband’s Tragic Death, Cries For Help
Hauwa Bala, the widow of late Isah Bala—one of the victims tragically murdered by an illegal vigilante group in Uromi, Edo State—gave birth to a baby girl shortly after receiving the devastating news of her husband’s death. The emotional shock caused her to go into premature labor. However, she now faces a difficult future, raising six children as the sole provider, with no clear means of survival.
Speaking from her home in Ungwan Salari, Kano, Hauwa expressed her deep sorrow and uncertainty. “I don’t know how I will take care of my family now. I have nothing tangible to do,” she said, her voice filled with anguish. Her husband, Isah, had been the family’s sole breadwinner, covering living expenses and paying for the children’s education. Now, with his tragic loss, Hauwa finds herself in an overwhelming situation.
The tragic incident occurred on March 27, when 16 travelers of Northern extraction were ambushed and killed by an illegal vigilante group in Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State. Among the victims was Isah Bala, who had been a provider and protector for his family.
Hauwa’s heartbreaking story was featured in a special report by News Central TV, shedding light on the emotional and personal toll the killings have had on her and her children. With a newborn baby and six other children depending on her, Hauwa is now left to cope with the responsibility of raising them in the absence of her husband’s support.
Hauwa has called for help from the government, organizations, and kind-hearted individuals to assist her in providing for her family and securing their future.
