Despite Tinubu’s Absence, Shettima Off To Dakar For Senegal’s 65th Independence Anniversary
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary celebrations.
Senegal’s Independence Day, celebrated on April 4 each year, marks the nation’s liberation from French colonial rule in 1960. The occasion is filled with national pride, featuring parades, ceremonies, and cultural events.
According to a statement from his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s attendance at the event is in response to an invitation extended to President Tinubu by Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, reflecting the strong and enduring relationship between Nigeria and Senegal.
The Independence Day festivities will take place at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, where President Faye will host Vice President Shettima and other distinguished guests from across Africa and the world.
Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after the one-day event.
LEADERSHIP recalls that President Tinubu departed Abuja for France on Wednesday for a two-week working visit.
