New NAF Spokesman Assumes Duty, Seeks Media Support
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame on Thursday officially assumed office as the new Spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), taking over the role of Director, Public Relations and Information. He succeeds Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, who has been redeployed to the Defence Headquarters as the Director of Civil Relations.
In his first remarks after assuming the position, Air Commodore Ejodame called for the support of the media to enable him to fulfill his mandate effectively. He pledged to maintain an open-door policy and expressed his gratitude to the Air Chief for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.
Ejodame stated, “As I admire your commitment in the way you work, I solicit your support to work together, and by the grace of God, we will definitely come up with some impactful works.”
A seasoned officer with extensive experience in logistics, strategic planning, and defense management, Ejodame brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He is a graduate of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics, as well as a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
Ejodame’s professional journey includes numerous high-level military and strategic courses, such as logistics training at the United Nations International Peace Support Operations Centre in Kenya and the Erasmus Intensive Programme on Optimisation and Decision Making in Supply Chain in Portugal. He also trained at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the Air Force War College, Makurdi, Benue State, where he emerged as the Best Graduating Participant.
Additionally, he has received awards including the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Air Staff Awards at the National Defence College, Abuja. His past roles in the NAF include serving as Directing Staff at both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the National Defence College, as well as the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna. He also served as the Director of Procurement at AFIT.
Ejodame has represented Nigeria diplomatically as the Defence Adviser at the Nigerian High Commission in Malaysia, where he was accredited to nine other countries, working to strengthen Nigeria’s defense ties in the region.
A distinguished scholar, researcher, and public relations professional, Ejodame is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and a Fellow of the Air Force War College, the National Defence College, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the outgoing spokesman, Akinboyewa, expressed his gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, for the opportunity to serve as NAF’s spokesman. He highlighted the influence of the CAS’s command philosophy, which focuses on transforming the NAF into an agile and resilient force capable of meeting national security demands in all operational environments. Akinboyewa also thanked the media for their collaboration in highlighting the NAF’s efforts, noting that he looks forward to continuing engagements in his new role at the Defence Headquarters.
