BREAKING: Ezenwafor Clinches PDP Governorship Ticket for Anambra 2025 Election

Chief Jude Ezenwafor, an Abuja-based real estate developer, has emerged as the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The announcement was made by Col. Chijioke Onwubuya (rtd), head of the PDP’s national committee for the Anambra governorship primary election, who declared Ezenwafor the winner at the party’s primary held on Tuesday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.

Ezenwafor was the only aspirant to contest for the PDP ticket, as he was the sole candidate to purchase the party’s nomination form.

A total of 853 delegates participated in the primary, including 839 elected from Anambra’s 21 local government areas and 14 national delegates. Despite being the only contestant, each delegate was still given a ballot paper to vote for their preferred candidate. The voting process took place in a local government-by-local government format, with national delegates casting their votes first.

With Ezenwafor now officially nominated, he joins three other candidates already selected by different political parties for the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial race. The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has re-nominated the current governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; the All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu; the Labour Party (LP) has selected Chief George Muoghalu, the former managing director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA); and the African Action Congress (AAC) has nominated Miss Chioma Ifemuludike, the only female candidate in the race.

LEADERSHIP noted the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the primary elections of each political party.
