Kaduna Unveils Nigeria’s First Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone
Kaduna State has made history by becoming the first in Nigeria to launch the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), a significant milestone in the country’s agricultural transformation.
Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), praised the state for its leadership in the initiative during a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna on Tuesday. He commended Governor Uba Sani for his dedication to revolutionizing agriculture in the state.
Adesina highlighted the impressive increase in Kaduna’s agricultural budget, which rose from N1.4 billion to N74 billion, describing the move as a clear demonstration of political commitment and substantial investment in the sector.
“You didn’t just put your money where your mouth is—you put your money where your mind and your body are,” Adesina remarked, earning applause from attendees and dignitaries at the event.
The AfDB President further emphasized that Kaduna’s leadership in launching the Agro-Industrial Processing Zone was not only a step toward ensuring food security but also a path to economic growth and inclusive development.
“You are the first state to launch the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone in Nigeria. This is a great day for us all,” Adesina added.
Governor Uba Sani, in his address, referred to Dr. Adesina as “a blessing to Nigeria, Africa, and humanity.” He also praised the AfDB President for his transformative efforts in the agricultural sector across the continent.
