FCT Police Launch Massive Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) under his command to embark on large-scale raids of known criminal hideouts and hotspots across Abuja.
This sweeping directive is part of a renewed effort to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the sustained safety of residents in the nation’s capital.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the operations will be intelligence-led and will include stop-and-search exercises, targeted patrols, and coordinated offensives aimed at tackling crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and other violent activities.
“The command is adopting a proactive strategy to stay ahead of criminal elements and build public trust in law enforcement,” Adeh stated.
Residents have been encouraged to cooperate fully with police officers during the course of the operations and to remain calm and law-abiding. CP Adewale emphasized that the goal is to enhance public safety and prevent crime before it occurs.
He also called on parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children’s activities and associations, stressing the importance of supervision in keeping young people away from crime.
“Community leaders, religious institutions, and stakeholders must also play their part by promptly reporting suspicious behavior or individuals,” SP Adeh added. “A safer society requires shared responsibility and collective action.”
The police command reiterated its commitment to sustaining security and urged Abuja residents to remain vigilant and supportive as the operations unfold.
