JUST IN: FUOYE VC Suspended Over Sexual Harassment Allegation
The Federal Government has suspended the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, over allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by a senior university official, Engr. Folasade Adebayo.
The decision followed the intervention of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who faulted the university’s Governing Council for reportedly exonerating Fasina and asking the complainant to apologize.
In response, the Council held an emergency meeting and approved Fasina’s immediate departure on accumulated leave, which sources say was a soft landing ahead of his tenure’s expiration in August 2025.
FUOYE’s Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, confirmed the development, announcing Prof. Samuel Olubunmi Shittu, the DVC (Academics), as the Acting Vice-Chancellor for six months.
