Olubadan Warns Newly Installed Chiefs Against Oppressing Family Members, Subjects

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has cautioned newly installed Mogajis (family heads) and Baales (village heads) against using their positions to intimidate or oppress family members and subjects.

Speaking through the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Senator) Sharafadeen Alli, during the installation of nine Mogajis and two Baales at his Oke Aremo palace in Ibadan, the monarch emphasized that traditional title holders are expected to uphold peace, unity, and dignity in their respective domains.

Oba Olakulehin warned them against any form of misconduct that could tarnish the image of the revered Ibadan traditional institution.

“Desist from any act that can tarnish the reputation of the traditional institution, such as land grabbing, insubordination to elders within your families, and oppression of family members whom you represent,” he said.

The Olubadan encouraged the title holders to serve as peace ambassadors, urging them to avoid actions that could erode public trust in the institution they now represent.
