Police Arrest 3 Suspected IPOB Insurgents In Imo
The Imo State Police Command said it has arrested three suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Ubahu in Okigwe local government area of the state.
A statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, noted that the arrests were in continuation of the Command’s drive to sustain operational momentum against criminal elements threatening public safety in the state.
Okoye narrated that, “On April 17, 2025, at about 0120hrs, operatives of the Command’s Tactical Teams, in synergy with local vigilante groups, acted on credible intelligence and stormed a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout on Cameron Street, Ubahu, in Okigwe LGA.
“On sighting the operatives, the suspects opened fire, resulting in a gun battle during which three suspects were arrested, namely: Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent (21), Ugwu Ikenna (31), and Ofor Kasarachi (37), while two others escaped into the surrounding bushes.”
The PPRO listed items recovered from the scene to include 1 AK-47 riffle, 2 pump-action guns, 18 live cartridges, mobile devices, laptops, and ₦10.3 million cash.
“Investigations reveals the money was contributed by IPOB members to finance terrorism,” Okoye said.
