MultiChoice Launches Budget-Friendly Weekly DStv and GOtv Packages in Uganda

In a move aimed at improving affordability and viewing flexibility, MultiChoice Uganda has introduced a new set of weekly subscription packages for both DStv and GOtv users under its new campaign, ‘Ka Weekie’.

Launched on Thursday, the initiative offers short-term payment options starting from just UGX 5,000, designed to cater to customers who prefer to pay as they go, especially daily or weekly earners.

Affordable Entertainment, On Your Terms

Speaking at the launch, Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager for MultiChoice Uganda, highlighted the company’s commitment to making quality entertainment more accessible.

“We understand that our subscribers need affordable and flexible options to enjoy their favorite content,” Jamugisa said. “The ‘Ka Weekie’ campaign is all about giving viewers control over how and when they pay for TV.”

Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, explained that the new offering is in direct response to customer feedback.

“You asked, we listened. ‘Ka Weekie’ is our way of making premium entertainment more flexible and accessible, especially for those who earn weekly or travel frequently,” he said.

The weekly plans can be activated easily via the MyDStv or MyGOtv apps, by dialing *206#, or using mobile money platforms such as Airtel Money and MTN MoMo. Subscriptions are also available through partner banks and authorized agents nationwide.

Jamugisa added that users can return to monthly, quarterly, or annual plans at any time by simply paying the difference or maintaining sufficient credit on their accounts.

A Step Toward Inclusive Entertainment

Since its establishment in 1994, MultiChoice Uganda—a subsidiary of MultiChoice Africa Holdings—has continued to provide a wide variety of local and international entertainment via DStv’s satellite service and GOtv’s digital terrestrial platform.

With the launch of ‘Ka Weekie’, MultiChoice says it’s taking another big step toward keeping Ugandans connected to the stories and shows they love—on their own terms.
