Nigerian-Born Lord Mayor of Leeds, Ex-CDS Agwai, Others Receive Traditional Titles in Jaba Kingdom
In a ceremony rich with culture and pride, the Lord Mayor of Leeds in the United Kingdom, Abigail Marshall Katung; former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd); and three other distinguished individuals were honoured with traditional titles in Jaba Kingdom, Kaduna State, on Friday.
The honours were conferred by His Royal Majesty, the Kpop Ham, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude, in recognition of their outstanding contributions and ties to the Ham (Jaba) people.
Abigail Katung, wife of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung who represents Kaduna South in the Nigerian Senate, was bestowed with the prestigious title of Gimbiyan Jaba (Princess of Ham). General Agwai, who also served as Chief of Army Staff during his military career, received the title of Sarkin Yakin Jaba (Warlord of Ham).

Reacting to the recognition, Senator Katung took to his Facebook page Saturday morning to congratulate all the honourees on behalf of the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District.
“This recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment, integrity, and service to our people,” he wrote. “The Ham Nation is truly blessed to have leaders like you.”
