Bauchi South Senator Seeks United Front Against Rising Insecurity
Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar has stressed the need for strong community and stakeholder collaboration in tackling the rising wave of insecurity in Duguri-Gwana District of Alkaleri local government area, Bauchi State.
Umar, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence made the call on Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to the families of over 10 people, including hunters and civilians, who were brutally killed by bandits in Garin Mansur Village.
The lawmaker visited the homes of the victims and met with traditional leaders including the District Head of Duguri, and the village heads of Alkaleri, Garin Mansur, and Gwana.
“Bauchi is known for its peaceful coexistence, but recent developments in Alkaleri threaten that reputation. We must not allow criminal elements to succeed,” he added.
He emphasised the importance of timely information sharing between communities and security agencies as a way to prevent future attacks.
Senator Umar also pledged to work closely with the Bauchi State Government, security forces, youths, and local leaders to find long-term solutions to the menace.
The lawmaker also showed the people support by donating the sum of N10 million to assist the bereaved families.
Umar, accompanied by the member of House of Representatives representing Alkaleri/Kirfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Makama, described the attack as a cowardly act that threatens regional stability.
He called for stronger security measures to protect lives and property.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the tragic incident took place on May 4, 2025, when local hunters from Duguri and Gwana Districts was ambushed by armed bandits along the Duguri–Mansur–Dajin Mada Forest corridor near the Bauchi–Plateau border.
