2027: Gov Sule Denies Senate Ambition
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has denied report claiming that he has declared to contest for senatorial position in 2027.
Governor Sule’s clarification came amid media reports (not LEADERSHIP) suggesting that he has declared to vie for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat.
The report sighted by our correspondent was attributed to Alhaji Suleiman Nagogo, the director-general of the State Bureau for Pension Administration.
However, a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ibrahim Addra, maintained that the declaration did not emanate from his principal.
Addra said although there were pressure from different groups and individuals from the zone for him to contest, the governor was focused on delivering the mandate freely given to him by the people of the state to lead them for a second term in 2023.
“Our attention has been drawn to a social media publication stating that the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has declared to run for the position of Senator in the 2027 elections. This assertion is untrue and does not emanate from Governor Abdullahi Sule.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Engr. Sule has never invited anyone to confirm that he is running or to sell his candidature for Senate or any other office.
“In reality, there have been several calls by individuals and groups on the Governor to declare interest and run for the Senate seat for Nasarawa North constituency in 2027,” he said.
The CPS said the Governor has in all instances firmly declined such calls, maintaining that his attention remains focused on delivering on his covenant with the people of Nasarawa State as their democratically elected Governor.
“While the governor appreciates all the love and endorsements from friends and supporters, it is worth restating that he has never confirmed that he is running for any office,” the CPS said.
Addra expressed the Governor’s gratitude for the support from the people of the state while also advising supporters to assist him in delivering on his mandate.
