EFCC, Housing Minister Inspect Forfeited 753-Unit Estate Linked to Emefiele in Abuja
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, on Wednesday, conducted an on-site inspection of a 753-unit housing estate in Lokogoma, Abuja, forfeited to the Federal Government. The estate, originally linked to former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, was recovered through a court order granted on December 2, 2024.
Dangiwa hailed the EFCC’s recovery as unprecedented, calling it the largest housing asset recovery in Nigeria’s history. “This is a landmark achievement, and we commend the EFCC chairman for this proactive and results-driven fight against corruption,” the minister said.
The property, covering over 150,500 square meters, was handed over to the Ministry for public sale and official use. Dangiwa encouraged Nigerians to support the EFCC’s mission to sanitize the system and recover more stolen assets.
Olukoyede, in his remarks, emphasized transparency and accountability, stating the property would be repurposed to benefit ordinary Nigerians, potentially as affordable housing under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that the actual number of units may increase after remodeling and valuation.
“This property now belongs to the people of Nigeria. Once renovations are completed, we’ll ensure its use aligns with the President’s vision of economic reform through anti-corruption initiatives,” Olukoyede said.
He reiterated the EFCC’s commitment to fighting economic crimes without fear or favour.
