Children’s Day: Kogi Speaker Celebrates Nigerian Children

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has congratulated children in Nigeria, particularly the children of the state on the occasion of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration.

Yusuf, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed in Lokoja on Tuesday, described children as the future of the nation and the state, and enjoined parents to give adequate care to their welfare.

Speaker Umar stressed the need for parents to take necessary steps to ensure that children do not lose their innocence, noting that as impressionable individuals, there was the need to inculcate positive values in them early in life.

“Parents need to understand that their children are gifts nature has imposed on them and that they are responsibilities in which they cannot afford to fail.

“In the face of negative trends in today’s society, there is need for them to ensure they give them sound education and religious training that would sway the children away from the vices that have pervaded the society,” he added.

The Speaker said the State House of Assembly was prepared to come up with laws that would protect the children against all practices that endanger them and urged the people of the state to continue to support government policies and programmes at all times.

Yusuf similarly congratulated all parents in the state, particularly the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, members of the State House of Assembly and other government functionaries for creating safe and habitable environment for the children in the state.
