Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state, Mr. Iliya James, disclosed this after the State Executive Council on Wednesday in Yola, the state capital.
The SEC meeting which was chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, conducted a final review of the 2024 appropriation, noting that it recorded a significant milestone of 80 per cent in performance compared to 56% in 2023.
In their separate remarks, the Commissioners for Finance and Budget, Mrs. Augustina Wandamiya and Mr. Emanuel Pridimso, explained that the budget review was aimed at identifying areas with surpluses and closing balances for the 2024 fiscal year.
According to Pridimso, “We considered and reviewed the budget by looking at areas where MDAs incurred expenses and identified sectors with surpluses to close the 2024 budget effectively.”
They added that the state has maintained discipline in budget implementation, promoting transparency and prudence, which have contributed to its excellent performance in developmental initiatives.
