Akpabio Denies Senate ‘Rubbished’ Senator Musa At Plenary
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has clarified as misleading, reports circulating on the social media and blogs, claiming that Senator Sani Musa was “rubbished” during a recent plenary session for allegedly failing to define the word “harmonised.”
In a statement issued to journalists on Friday in Abuja, Akpabio dismissed these reports as untrue, emphasising that no such incident took place.
He explained that when Senator Musa was called upon, a point of order was raised by Senator Abdul Ningi, requiring immediate procedural attention according to Senate rules.
According to the Senate President, the session continued without any breach of decorum or embarrassment to Senator Musa.
He further highlighted Senator Musa’s important contributions as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Finance and as Chairman of the Conference Committee that harmonised the Tax Reform Bills—an achievement praised by both chambers and key stakeholders.
Akpabio reaffirmed that the Senate operates on the principles of respect, order, and integrity.
He urged media outlets to prioritise responsible journalism and to ensure accuracy in the coverage of the National Assembly and its members and to be free of sensationalism.
