Popular Eatery’s Building Collapses After Rainfall In Oyo
A tall building said to be proposed to be used by a popular eatery, Item7 caved in under torrential rainfall that was preceded by heavy rainstorms in the Dugbe area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Sunday night.
An X (formerly Twitter) user, Arugboboisi @Arugboboisi_Sam who shared this in a post, reported that the debris from the collapsed structure blocked one lane of the ever busy Dugbe–Mokola Road.
Arugboboisi said blockage posed serious hazard to motorists and road users when it occurred on Sunday, especially as night falls.
Emergency responders and equipment were immediately moved to the scene of the collapsed building, working tirelessly to evacuate the rubble and clear the obstruction.
“We are urging everyone plying the Dugbe–Mokola axis from this evening till tomorrow (Monday) morning to slow down, drive with caution, and stay alert for diversions or emergency activity on the road,” he said.
LEADERSHIP gathered on Monday that while a lane on the Dugbe – Mokola axis was closed for clearing, the other lane of the dualized road was open for commuters to use as workers resumed for work.
