Emir Sanusi II Orders District Heads To Kano For Eid-el-Kabir Durbar
In preparation for this year’s Eid-el-Kabir durbar celebration, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has directed all district heads under the Kano Emirate to converge in Kano city ahead of the annual festivities.
The directive was conveyed through a letter signed by the Secretary of the Kano Emirate Council and Danmakwayon Kano, Alhaji Abba Yusuf.
According to the letter, all district heads and members of the traditional council were to arrive with their horses and ceremonial riders on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025.
As part of the durbar preparations, the traditional rulers are expected to pay homage to the Emir at the Kano Emir’s Palace in Kofar Kudu at exactly 11a.m. on Thursday, June 5.
The letter further revealed that the Emirate Council has reached out to chairmen of local government councils across the state to facilitate the transportation of the traditional leaders and their entourage to Kano.
LEADERSHIP reports that the Kano durbar is a centuries-old tradition celebrated during both Eid-el-Fitr and Eid-il-Adha, marked by a vibrant display of horsemanship, traditional regalia, and royal pageantry.
This year’s event will mark the first Durbar since the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi II in 2024.
