Olukoyede Reaffirms EFCC’s Commitment to Using Anti-Graft Fight to Drive Economic Growth
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to bolstering its partnership with law enforcement bodies to enhance Nigeria’s economic growth.
Olukoyede made this statement in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, February 24, 2025, during the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the Nigeria Police Annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Officers.
The theme of the conference, “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” was in line with the EFCC’s core mission. Olukoyede emphasized, “Stimulating Nigeria’s economy is a priority for us, and as part of the conference theme, I assure you of our unwavering support and commitment to the shared mandate.”
He praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for choosing such a relevant and impactful theme for the conference, noting that the Police had laid a solid foundation upon which the EFCC continues to build.
“As the EFCC, we identify closely with the Nigeria Police, and we are grateful for the strong foundation they established, which we are now building on,” Olukoyede stated. He further noted that many specialized law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, including the EFCC, originated from the Nigeria Police.
Olukoyede reaffirmed the EFCC’s determination to maintain its collaboration with the Nigeria Police in preventing and investigating financial crimes. “We remain focused on our critical mandate of recovering the proceeds of crime, and I assure you of our continuous support in this shared goal,” he added.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, National Assembly members, ministers, service chiefs, top government officials, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.
