Kwara Assembly Approves Two New Commissioners
On Wednesday, the Kwara State House of Assembly confirmed two nominees as commissioners following the governor’s request for their approval.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had previously submitted a letter to the assembly, seeking confirmation for Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Mariam Imam as commissioners. This request came after the state executive council (SEC) created two new ministries: the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Livestock Development.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, the nominees were screened by the House members. Speaker Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu read the governor’s letter, which called for the screening and confirmation of Mariam Nna Fatimah Imam (Edu) and Dr. Lawal Olalekan Olorungbebe (Ilorin West) as commissioners.
After the screening, both nominees were confirmed as commissioners in the state executive council following a review by the committee of the whole. The speaker then instructed the clerk of the House to notify the governor of the successful confirmation of the new commissioners.
