BREAKING: Resign Within 48 Hours or Be Impeached, Rivers APC Tells Fubara

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara to resign from office within 48 hours or face impeachment by the State House of Assembly.

The call was made by the APC Chairman in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, during a press briefing at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Monday morning.

Okocha accused Governor Fubara of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu when he attempted to offer a political solution to the ongoing crisis in the state.

“As a political party, we are advising the governor to make a choice: resign honourably or be impeached. That is the position of the All Progressives Congress,” Okocha stated. “He has disrespected Mr. President, and we cannot allow him to remain in office after insulting the President.”

He further argued that there were already sufficient grounds for the governor’s impeachment, citing evidence provided by the Supreme Court. Okocha emphasized that the State House of Assembly did not need to set up any new committees to investigate the matter.

“48 hours is too much to give him as an ultimatum. He should simply resign honourably,” he added.
