Tinubu Appoints New NABTEB Registrar, UBEC Board Chair
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Aminu as the new Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
A statement released by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, stated that Dr. Aminu holds a Ph.D. in Automobile Technology and a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. He brings 28 years of experience in teaching, administration, research, and policy development to the position. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Aminu served as the Director of Procurement at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
Dr. Aminu, an advocate for vocational education and skills development, has also authored multiple publications and presented research on innovative teaching methods, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation. He is a member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and the Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute.
President Tinubu urged the new NABTEB Registrar/CEO to leverage his extensive experience to drive transformative leadership within the agency, ensuring it continues to play a key role in certifying skilled human resources vital for Nigeria’s industrial growth.
In a separate development, President Tinubu has appointed Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board. Also, Rasaq Olajuwon was named UBEC’s Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), while Tunde Ajibulu will serve as Deputy Executive Secretary (Services).
Mr. Olorunnimbe, known for his leadership in education, entertainment, and sports, has extensive experience in youth empowerment. As the Group CEO of The Temple Company, which he founded in 2016, he led several transformative initiatives. He also previously served on the Board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committees, driving impactful programs in youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Olajuwon, before his new appointment, was the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), while Mr. Ajibulu, a Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), has served as a Director at Tangent Construction Nigeria Limited and a Partner at Covenant Consultancy Services.
President Tinubu urged the new appointees to work towards strengthening human capital in the educational sector and improving the service delivery at UBEC, with the goal of increasing access to quality basic education across Nigeria.
