Kano Assembly Passes Bills to Create Deputy MDs for 5 Agencies

The Kano State House of Assembly has passed five amended bills to create the office of deputy managing director for five key state agencies.

The bills, which were passed on Tuesday, include:

  1. The Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025
  2. The Kano State Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (Amendment) Bill 2025
  3. The Kano State Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2025
  4. The Kano State Television Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2025
  5. The Kano State Printing Press (Amendment) Bill 2025

The creation of these new offices is aimed at ensuring that the affected agencies—Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority, Kano State Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency, Kano State Broadcasting Corporation, Kano State Television Corporation, and Kano State Printing Press—are not left inoperative when the managing directors are absent.

The bills were passed after thorough deliberations in the Committee of the Whole House, followed by the third reading led by the Assembly Clerk, Bashir Diso.

Speaking on the importance of the amendments, the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Husseini, explained that the introduction of deputy managing directors would help ensure continuity and efficiency in the agencies’ operations. He emphasized that having a deputy would allow for seamless leadership transition during the absence of the managing director, preventing any disruptions in the agencies’ activities.
