A tragic conflict between herders and farmers in Farin Dutse, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has resulted in the deaths of a pregnant woman and five other individuals. The violence also left many others injured, while several homes, motorcycles, and other properties were destroyed.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the State Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, reported that a police operational pick-up van was also set ablaze during the chaos.

The police disclosed that they recovered six bodies from the scene. The victims have been identified as Simeon Madaki, Ayawu Senior, Sunday Wa’azu, Vincent Sunday, Taimako Senior, and Filibus Jatau Mai’anguwa.

Nansel added that several houses, shops, motorcycles, and a car were vandalized during the conflict. Additionally, three people—Samaniya Wa’azu, Vincent Ezekiel, and Johnson Maikasuwa—who were injured in the clash, were rescued and taken to a medical center for treatment.

To maintain order, police personnel from the 69 PMF Toto Mobile Police, along with other operatives and the military, were deployed to patrol the area.

However, during the intervention, a mob attacked and vandalized a police patrol vehicle, then set fire to a nearby Ruga settlement where a suspect named Sani lived. This act led to the heartbreaking death of Azumi Allah Gaba and her unborn child, as explained by the PPRO.
