Wike Dismisses Fubara’s Letter to Rivers Assembly Over Supreme Court Verdict

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed as “useless” the letter sent by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the Rivers State House of Assembly, seeking an audience with the lawmakers to discuss the implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the state’s political affairs.

Wike, who is the immediate past governor of Rivers State, made this statement during a chat with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday. He criticized the approach taken by Fubara, saying that Speaker Martins Amaewhule and other members of the Rivers Assembly are not subordinates of the governor and should be treated with respect.

Wike also pointed out that instead of issuing a formal letter to the lawmakers, Fubara should have personally contacted Speaker Amaewhule and his team, calling them directly to agree on a time and date for the meeting.

This statement from Wike comes amidst the ongoing political developments in Rivers State following the Supreme Court ruling, and it appears to highlight a growing tension between the current governor and political figures in the state.
