Gov Eno Confident Tinubu’s Policies Leading to Economic Recovery

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed confidence that Nigeria is on the path to economic recovery, despite the challenges it currently faces. He assured citizens that the painful period would soon give way to a period of prosperity, thanks to the ongoing economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Governor Eno urged Nigerians to remain patient, highlighting that the reforms being implemented by the Federal Government were already beginning to show positive results. He further emphasized that these efforts were having a ripple effect across Nigeria’s sub-national governments, including Akwa Ibom.

Speaking during a town hall meeting at the Uyo Township Stadium, part of a series of meetings across the state’s 10 federal constituencies, Eno reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of his people. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to lifting people out of poverty, in alignment with his ARISE Agenda and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

As part of his efforts to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs, Governor Eno made a significant donation of 10,000 sets of business equipment to 2,000 entrepreneurs in various crafts, including tailoring, barbing, shoe making, welding, laundry, hair styling, car wash, makeup artistry, baking, palm and cassava milling, vulcanizing, and tiling. This initiative is part of the ARISE Entrepreneurial Equipment Support Scheme (AEESS).

In addition, Eno presented 77 mini buses and 31 saloon cars to various beneficiaries, helping to boost their businesses. The Governor also awarded various cash prizes under the Academic Excellence Award (AEA) and Exceptional Grit Award (EGA).

Notable recipients of the Academic Excellence Award included Edidiong Essien, who scored 8 Alphas in the 2023 West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE), and was awarded N10 million. Dr. Joseph Akpan, a medical doctor who excelled in his final exams at the University of Uyo, received full tuition and living expenses to pursue a master’s degree abroad.

In the Exceptional Grit category, Otobong Philip Udoh, a female tipper truck driver from Ikot Ukana in Obot Akara LGA, was awarded N5 million for breaking gender barriers in a male-dominated industry.

Dr. Joseph Akpan, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to Governor Eno, stating that the awards were a welcome surprise and would inspire others to strive for excellence in their academic and professional pursuits.
