Kogi Land Use Charge ‘ll Enhance Efficient Public Service Delivery — KGIRS Chair
The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Salihu Enehe, has emphasized that the recently introduced Land Use Charge is not just a levy but a strategic investment aimed at enhancing infrastructure, improving public services, and securing a better future for all Kogi residents.
Speaking on Wednesday during the unveiling of the implementation of the Land Use Charge Law, 2024, at the KGIRS Board Room in Lokoja, Enehe described the event as a significant step in strengthening the state’s revenue base for sustainable development.
He highlighted that the ongoing tax reforms are designed to streamline revenue collection, promote transparency, and ensure all stakeholders contribute their fair share toward the state’s development.
“The Land Use Charge is not just a levy; it is an investment in better infrastructure, improved public services, and a greater future for all Kogi residents,” Enehe said.
He went on to explain that the new legislation is a crucial part of the state’s strategy to enhance revenue generation for local governments, foster data-driven decision-making, and support the creation of smart cities and jobs in Kogi State.
Enehe stressed that the goal of the tax reforms is to promote transparency and ensure efficient use of resources, with the Land Use Charge serving as a key driver of this transformation.
“A well-structured revenue system is the foundation of good governance. By embracing the Land Use Charge, you are helping to empower the government to deliver more impactful projects that will benefit businesses, communities, and future generations,” he stated.
He called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure the initiative’s success, noting that the successful launch of the Land Use Charge Demand Notice marked a reaffirmation of the state’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and efficiency in revenue administration.
“As we move forward, I crave your patience and understanding as we make a practical demonstration of how assessments will be raised,” Enehe added, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in unlocking Kogi State’s potential and building a more prosperous future for its citizens.
