BREAKING: Governor Fubara Writes Rivers Assembly, Proposes March 19 for Budget Presentation

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has once again written to the State House of Assembly, notifying lawmakers of his plan to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill for consideration and approval.

In a letter dated March 13 and addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Fubara proposed to present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or on another date within March that the House may find suitable.

The governor explained that his decision to re-submit the 2025 budget was in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling and in response to the Assembly’s earlier request for him to do so.

Fubara also reflected on the unpleasant experience he had earlier in the week when he attempted to visit the House of Assembly quarters to present the budget. He and his entourage were denied access to the premises by security personnel.

It was reported that last Wednesday, a brief altercation occurred at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt when security officers reportedly locked the facility’s main gate, preventing the governor and his team from entering.

The governor’s visit was intended for the presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, following the Supreme Court’s February 28, 2025 ruling. Sources indicated that the security personnel’s action was based on the absence of official communication between the governor and the Assembly prior to the visit.
