Seven Lives and ₦50.3 Million in Property Lost in Kano Fire Incidents in February
In February 2025, fire incidents across Kano State claimed the lives of seven individuals, as reported by the State Fire Service.
The agency recorded 77 fire outbreaks, 11 rescue operations, and three false alarms during the same period. According to a statement signed by SFS Kabiru Isah Jaafar, on behalf of the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the fires resulted in property damage totaling ₦50.3 million. However, the Fire Service managed to save assets valued at ₦180.3 million and successfully rescued seven individuals.
The statement further noted that under the leadership of Alhaji Sani Anas, the Fire Service has urged residents to exercise caution when handling fire to prevent future incidents. Additionally, motorists were advised to drive carefully and follow traffic regulations, especially on highways, to minimize the risk of accidents.
