Notorious Bandit Kingpin Kachallah Dogo, 11 Others Killed In Katsina

In a significant blow to criminal activities in Katsina State, troops of Operation ‘Fansan Yanma’ have successfully neutralised 12 terrorists, including the notorious bandit kingpin Kachallah Dogo, during a combat operation in Maigora village, located within the Faskari local government area.

The operation unfolded on Friday at approximately 12:30pm, following intelligence reports about an impending attack by a group of terrorists. In response, troops swiftly mobilized and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which forced the assailants into a retreat. During the initial confrontation, five bandits were killed, and two motorcycles used by the attackers were seized.

Despite the initial setback, the bandits regrouped and launched a counterattack. However, security forces held their ground, repelling the assault and pursuing the fleeing criminals into nearby hills. Mortar fire was employed, resulting in the deaths of seven additional terrorists, effectively scattering the remaining group.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of seven more motorcycles used by the bandits. Among those killed was Kachallah Dogo, a notorious bandit leader, who had long been a source of terror for communities across Katsina State. Another key figure, identified as Malum, was reported to have sustained gunshot wounds and is believed to be hiding.

Local sources confirmed that the bodies of the 12 terrorists were buried on Friday evening. Dogo’s death marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against banditry in the region.

In the aftermath of the operation, security forces have maintained a strong presence in the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further attacks. The successful operation has been hailed as a significant step forward in dismantling the network of terror that has plagued Katsina State for years.
