Aiyedatiwa Approves Recruitment of 1,100 Additional Primary School Teachers in Ondo

Governor Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the hiring of an additional 1,100 teachers to address critical staffing gaps in public primary schools across all 18 local government areas in the state.

This recruitment, overseen by the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), was given the green light by the governor following the completion of the recruitment process by the board.

The state government had previously employed 1,010 new teachers for public secondary schools, bringing the total number of newly recruited teachers in the state to 2,110.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his commitment to filling all vacant teaching positions in a bid to alleviate the severe shortage of teachers in the state’s public schools.

In response to the development, the executive chairman of ODSUBEB, Rt. Hon. Victor Olambitan, expressed gratitude to the governor for his approval of the recruitment, which is expected to address gaps left by former workers exiting the public service.

Olambitan highlighted that the new employment would significantly improve the pupil-teacher ratio in public primary schools, enhancing the quality of education, particularly in rural and remote areas of the state.

He also commended the Aiyedatiwa administration for its many remarkable achievements in the education sector in Ondo.
