Trump Says He Has ‘No Intention’ to Ease Steel, Aluminum Tariffs

US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he had “no intention” of easing tariffs on steel and aluminum, as the United States approaches a potential all-out trade war with key global partners.

Since January, Trump has implemented tariffs on several imports, including steel and aluminum, leading to market volatility and sparking concerns that his trade policies could push the world’s largest economy into a recession.

While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump reaffirmed his stance, saying, “No, I have no intention of that,” when asked about lifting the tariffs. He further emphasized his commitment to imposing reciprocal tariffs starting on April 2 to address what Washington considers unfair trade practices. This move could expand the list of targeted products and trading partners.

“April 2 is a liberating day for our country,” Trump declared, adding, “Billions of dollars have already come into our country, and the big money is coming in from April 2.”
