Kano Gears Up For Sallah Durbar, Inauguration Of Emirate Council

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the four Emirates in the state to begin preparations for the Sallah Durbar, ensuring that citizens and visitors have an enjoyable experience during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festival.

Governor Yusuf made the announcement late Tuesday night after hosting the Emirs of the state, led by His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, to a Ramadan Iftar at the Government House in Kano.

Through his verified Facebook page, the governor said: “This evening, I hosted our esteemed Emirs, led by His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, to a Ramadan iftar meeting, at the Government House, Kano, on Tuesday.”

He continued: “During the engagement, I directed all the four Emirates in Kano to commence preparations for the Sallah Durbar to ensure that citizens and visitors enjoy the festive period to the fullest.”

Governor Yusuf also emphasized the importance of the tradition of wearing new clothes and lining the streets to witness the Emirs on horseback while exchanging greetings on Sallah Day. He assured the public that the administration would not allow any adversaries to deprive citizens of this cherished right.

Additionally, the governor disclosed that the Kano State Emirate Council would be inaugurated in April to allow it to function effectively, marking another significant step in the state’s development.

Yusuf praised the Emirs for their maturity and positive relationship since their appointments, highlighting that this was the first time in the state’s history that there was such respect and cooperation among the Emirs, particularly concerning hierarchy.

Governor Yusuf also assured the public that all security agencies would be engaged to provide adequate protection during the celebration, ensuring that the festive period is both enjoyable and safe for all.
