Speaker Abbas’ Aide, Chibuike, Commends Principal for Passage of Tax Reform Bills

Hon. Chibuike Emmanuel, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Energy, has lauded Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen for his exemplary leadership in guiding the passage of four critical tax reform bills by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The tax reform bills, introduced to the National Assembly in October 2024, have sparked intense debate and scrutiny among various stakeholders, including Northern leaders, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and other interest groups, many of whom expressed concerns over certain provisions. However, Chibuike praised Speaker Abbas for his steadfast leadership, which he said enabled the House to navigate these challenges and pass the bills into law.

Chibuike emphasized that this achievement reinforces Speaker Abbas Tajudeen’s reputation as a seasoned leader who places national progress at the forefront, using dialogue, inclusivity, and consensus-building to push the legislation forward. He remarked:

“Despite the controversies surrounding the tax reforms, Mr. Speaker has demonstrated unwavering commitment to legislative excellence and the national interest. Chibuike further called on all stakeholders to support the tax reforms, highlighting that the bills were designed to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal policies, enhance revenue generation, and promote sustainable economic development.
