JUST-IN: Rivers Sole Administrator Arrives in Port Harcourt, Holds Security Meeting

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has arrived at the Government House in Port Harcourt for a crucial high-level meeting with key stakeholders.

Upon his arrival, Ibas immediately convened a closed-door session with senior security officers, a federal government delegation, and top state officials. Sources indicate that the meeting is expected to address urgent security and administrative issues as the new leadership begins to take shape following recent political developments in the state.

While the specifics of the discussions remain confidential, insiders suggest that the meeting’s outcomes could significantly influence the direction of the administration’s early actions.

In a brief interaction with the media, Ibas expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank you all for what you have been doing so far. When I got here, I decided to meet with the Head of Service and service commanders. I will have a formal briefing with them. I assure you that later this evening, I will address you on some of the issues you want to know.”

Asked about the warm reception he received upon his arrival, the retired Vice Admiral, dressed in an all-white native attire, said, “Port Harcourt is my city. Everything appears calm. We just want Port Harcourt to return to the thriving state it has always been.”

LEADERSHIP recalls that President Bola Tinubu swore in Ibas on Wednesday in Abuja following the declaration of emergency rule in the state. The move came after the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state House of Assembly due to a prolonged political dispute in the state.
