JUST-IN: INEC Notifies Kogi Central Senator Natasha Of Recall Petition
Confirms petitioners have provided contact address, phone numbers
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally notified the suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of the petition to recall her from the Senate by her constituents.
In a letter addressed to the embattled lawmaker, dated March 26, and signed by the INEC Secretary, Mrs. Rose Oriaran Anthony, the Commission confirmed its receipt of a petition from registered voters in the constituency seeking her recall.
The letter, which was in line with Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), states: “I write to notify you of the receipt of a petition from representatives of registered voters in your constituency seeking your recall from the Senate.”
Mrs. Anthony further noted: “This notification is in accordance with Clause 2(a) of the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall, 2024. A copy of this letter has also been sent to the presiding officer of the Senate and is simultaneously published on the Commission’s website.”
The INEC also confirmed that the petitioners had provided valid contact information, including phone numbers and addresses.
