Federal Gov’t To Deploy Drones For Nigeria’s Airspace Safety
The federal government has announced plans to deploy drones for airspace safety and navigation checks across Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during a workshop titled ‘Navaid Drone: Advancement in Air Navigation and Safety’ in Abuja on Thursday.
In his remarks, Keyamo emphasized the importance of air navigation and safety, noting that air traffic is rapidly increasing, necessitating innovative and reliable solutions to manage the growing demands. He highlighted that the Navaid drones represent a groundbreaking technology set to reshape the future of aerospace development.
“It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you all to today’s workshop and demonstration on the importance of air navigation and safety, and the groundbreaking role of Navaid drones technology in shaping the future of aerospace development,” Keyamo stated.
He continued, “As air traffic continues to grow, the need for innovative, efficient, and reliable solutions has never been more critical. Today, we stand at the forefront of a new era in aerospace, where cutting-edge technologies like the NavAid drones are revolutionizing how we approach air navigation, safety, and operational efficiency.”
Keyamo, represented by the Director of Safety at the Ministry of Aviation, Mr. Chukwu Michael, explained that the workshop was designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in air navigation, focusing on how the integration of advanced drone technology is transforming the aviation industry.
“The NavAid drones represent the new frontier in aerospace tools that not only enhance safety but also streamline operations, reduce costs, and pave the way for a more sustainable future,” Keyamo explained.
The minister urged aviation industry experts to explore how drone technology could be applied in real-world scenarios, enhancing the safety and operational efficiency of airspace navigation.
He concluded by stating that the adoption of advanced technologies for air navigation and safety is in line with the priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which focuses on economic growth, infrastructure development, security, and technological advancement.
