Be Alive, Committed To Your Chosen Career, Makinde Charges Oyo Police Cadets

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has urged cadets of the state origin in the Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, to be fully committed to their chosen career in policing and remain dedicated to their responsibilities.

Governor Makinde made the remarks when he received the 39 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from Course 7, who were in Oyo State for their one-month mandatory internship at his office in Ibadan. He encouraged the cadets to live up to their potential and become agents of positive change wherever they serve.

“To the Oyo State indigene Cadets in the Regular Course 7, I would like to encourage you and pray that you make a success of this career you have chosen. I wish you well, and I want to urge you to be good ambassadors of the state. You should be change agents wherever you find yourselves,” Makinde stated.

The governor also reflected on his experiences with the police, recalling working alongside outstanding professionals who showed loyalty, commitment, and excellence. He praised the Oyo State Police Commissioner, senior officers, and all personnel of the Command for their contributions to maintaining security in the state.

“I won’t allow this kind of opportunity to go without saying thank you to the CP and other Senior Police Officers here. You are doing marvelously well in keeping this state safe and secure. On behalf of the government and the people of Oyo State, I want to say thank you for keeping the state safe,” Makinde expressed.

He also mentioned his collaboration with retired CP Sunday Odukoya, who had worked closely with him during his first public assignment as governor, further underscoring his appreciation for the professionalism within the police force.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, expressed gratitude to the governor for his unwavering support for the Command. He highlighted that the number of Oyo State cadets in Regular Course 7 was the largest in the history of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the cadets, ASP Adeniran Theophilus commended the governor for his developmental efforts in Oyo State, assuring that they would represent the state with pride and uphold its values in their future roles within the police force.
