Police Nab 2 Suspected Car Thieves In Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two persons over their alleged involvement in stealing a green Honda Civic-2000-model car at Yelwan Tudu, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Confirming the incident to reporters in a statement on Tuesday, spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil said the suspects stole the car with registration number ALK-627-GG where it was parked at Yelwan Tudu market.

He identified the arrested suspects as Ibrahim Uzeru, a 30-year-old resident of Kashere Santuraki in Akko local government area of Gombe State and 35-year-old John Paul, a resident of Bayan Gari in Bauchi.

“A team of detectives was assigned to investigate the matter and recover the stolen vehicle. Subsequently, the detectives intercepted the stolen car along the Maiduguri bypass near Awala roundabout.

“During interrogation, one of the suspects, Mr Ibrahim Uzeru, admitted to have received the stolen vehicle from his employer and mentioned that he had invited Mr John Paul to accompany him to Durum and hand over the vehicle to an undisclosed individual. Uzeru also indicated that he had promised Mr. John Paul a sum of N20,000 as his reward,” Wakil said.

CSP Wakil said the suspects will be prosecuted after the end of investigation.
