UniAbuja Promotes 45 to Professorial Rank

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 11th Governing Council of the University of Abuja, Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, has approved the promotion of 45 academic staff to professorial ranks, pending ratification by the Council once it is fully constituted.

Of those promoted, 20 staff members were elevated to the rank of Professor, while 25 others were promoted to Associate Professor.

The announcement was made by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, during the 188th Regular Senate of the University.

Dr. Habib Yakoob, the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, noted that the promotions spanned various disciplines, including Geography and Atmospheric Sciences, Social Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Management Sciences, Education, Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Arts.

In her congratulatory remarks, the Acting Vice-Chancellor commended the newly promoted staff for their commitment and hard work in advancing knowledge within their respective fields.

Professor Lar said, “In light of pending promotions, we sought approval from the Council Chairman, who graciously granted permission on behalf of the Council, subject to ratification, for the announcement of staff who received positive external assessments and were subsequently promoted to the ranks of Professor and Associate Professor.”

She further added, “This recognition is well-deserved, reflecting your dedication, resilience, and hard work. Your promotions not only acknowledge your individual achievements but also highlight the University’s ongoing commitment to the academic growth and development of its staff.”

The Acting Vice-Chancellor emphasized that this achievement is just the beginning, urging the newly promoted staff to continue contributing to groundbreaking research, knowledge advancement, and the shaping of future scholars and leaders. She assured them that the administration would continue to support them and ensure that those deserving of elevation receive it in due course.
